The government has approved new car tax rates: what will change for drivers.
According to inkorr.com: Ukrainian drivers have received important information regarding costs associated with the first registration of a vehicle. This information was provided by the press service of the Main Service Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
When registering a passenger car for the first time in Ukraine, owners must pay a contribution to the state pension insurance fund. This contribution is mandatory and one-time, and it must be paid for both new and used cars imported from abroad.
Contribution rates for 2025:
- for cars worth up to 499,620 hryvnias - 3%
- for cars worth from 499,620 to 878,120 hryvnias - 4%
- for cars worth over 878,120 hryvnias - 5%
Electric vehicles are exempt from this contribution upon first registration. After customs clearance, a few procedures must be followed: receive a certificate of compliance, undergo an examination at the Expert Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and register the vehicle at the Ministry of Internal Affairs service center (the owner's place of registration does not matter).
- For this service, an electronic queue is available through the E-registration system, which operates on the website or in the mobile application.
Therefore, car owners have the opportunity to conveniently and quickly go through the registration process while adhering to all necessary rules and tax rates.
This information is crucial for Ukrainian drivers, as new contribution rates may affect the budget of many car enthusiasts. Proper preparation for registration will help save time and effort, which is especially relevant in today's automotive transport market.
