Oschadbank to Require SMS Verification for Larger Transfers Starting in 2026
According to Novyny.live: Beginning in 2026, Oschadbank will implement new security measures for its 'Oschad24' mobile app. These changes, designed to protect customers from fraud, are part of a broader effort to enhance digital banking security in Ukraine. Under the new rules, transfers of up to 1,000 hryvnias can be completed without any additional verification.
However, any transfer exceeding 1,000 hryvnias will require customers to confirm the transaction using a one-time passcode (OTP) sent via SMS. This mandate stems from a regulation issued by the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU), specifically Resolution No. 58, which was adopted on May 3, 2023. The policy aims to minimize fraud risks and ensure greater security for financial operations.
How the New Rules Will Affect Customers
Oschad24 users will need to be mindful of transfer amounts to avoid any inconvenience during transactions. The SMS confirmation step for larger transfers may slightly slow down the process, affecting the speed of completing these financial operations.
The introduction of these limits in Oschad24 aligns with a wider strategy across Ukraine's banking system to improve the safety of electronic financial services. Such steps are intended to disrupt potential fraudulent schemes, which in turn should bolster customer confidence in banking services.
It is crucial for customers to stay informed about these new rules and adjust their financial habits accordingly, as this will impact how they use banking services in the future.
