Mandatory Technical Inspection in Ukraine: What is Checked in Your Car.
According to inkorr.com: In Ukraine, mandatory technical inspection (MTI) of vehicles is underway, which helps reduce the likelihood of road accidents and ensure safe movement on the roads. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, about 15% of serious accidents each year occur due to technically defective vehicles.
The Role of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Technical Inspection
Experts note that the Ministry of Internal Affairs does not conduct technical inspections directly. Its mission is to oversee authorized organizations that check the technical condition of vehicles and maintain a register of such entities.
Main Aspects of Control
condition of brakes and steering;
functionality of headlights and other lighting devices;
tire wear;
level of toxicity and smoke emissions;
overall technical condition of the vehicle.
Particular attention is paid to passenger cars used for commercial purposes, trucks, buses, taxis, and vehicles transporting hazardous cargo.
“Regular technical inspection helps identify potential problems at early stages and avoid serious accidents,” notes the head of one of the MTI centers.
Experts emphasize that even a small malfunction can lead to an accident. Therefore, undergoing mandatory technical inspection is not just a formality, but an important measure for the safety of all road users.
Moreover, the country plans to introduce severe penalties for 'serial violators' of traffic rules.
The situation with road safety remains relevant, and the implementation of MTI is an important step in combating technical malfunctions of vehicles. By ensuring control over the condition of vehicles, the state aims to reduce risks on the road for all participants in traffic. Planned penalties for violators should also increase driver discipline and improve the overall situation on the roads.
