The Hero of Ukraine spoke about his motivation on the front lines and the conditions for ending the war

25-year-old senior soldier of the 116th Territorial Defense Brigade Ivan Chorny, who seized a stronghold behind enemy lines and destroyed the occupiers, became a Hero of Ukraine. He agreed to give an exclusive interview for «Glavkom». Chorny spoke about his motivation, the battles for Avdiivka, the Russian prisoners, and the conditions for ending the war.

For destroying an airborne group and capturing enemy positions

According to the official explanation of the award, he first captured one Russian, and then another four near the coke plant in Avdiivka.

Chorny said that it was extremely difficult to complete this task, as the enemy infantry was hiding close to the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The nearest distance to the Ukrainian fortifications was 20 meters.

During the interrogation, the captured Russians admitted that they voluntarily became contract soldiers from Samara and Chita to get money. He also noted that it was most difficult to fight in Avdiivka due to the large amount of equipment and people, as well as frequent shelling.

Before joining the service, Chorny worked in Poland at a cardboard packaging factory and played football at an amateur level.

He noted that younger soldiers are better at adapting to new military innovations such as drones. However, most soldiers on the front lines are about 35 years old or even older.

Ivan Chorny emphasizes that those who enter the military must have motivation and a willingness to learn, otherwise, no one will help.

The Hero of Ukraine outlined the conditions for peace acceptable to him. They involve a complete ceasefire and the withdrawal of enemy troops from all occupied territories. Chorny is convinced that these territories should never be surrendered and that everything possible should be done to stop the Russians.
