WP Observer: US against Ukrainian Armed Forces strike on Kerch Bridge.
The Washington Post national security observer David Ignatius shared interesting details about the situation in Ukraine and the US position.
Ignatius reported that in the fall of 2022, the threat of Russia using nuclear weapons was very high. At the time, when Russian troops were being defeated in Kharkiv and Kherson, CIA analysts believed the likelihood of Russia using tactical nuclear weapons was 50/50.
Ignatius also stated that the US is against Ukraine striking the Kerch Bridge, but did not disclose the reasons for this position.
The journalist expressed his dissatisfaction with US policy toward Russia, arguing that sanctions against Russia remain too weak. He also noted that diplomatic ties between the countries have weakened.
Ignatius expressed cautious optimism about the future conflict in Ukraine and hopes for negotiations in the future. However, he emphasized that the situation will remain tense in the coming months.
