In southern Ukraine, Russian troops continue their advance towards Pokrovsk with the aim of capturing a mine that produces special coal for the metallurgical industry. The loss of this mine could cause serious problems for steel production in Ukraine, according to journalists from Reuters.

The head of the Ukrainian metallurgists association, Oleksandr Kalenkov, explained that this mine has strategic importance because it provides metallurgical enterprises with the necessary material. He also emphasized that losing the mine will lead to increased production costs and dependence on imports.

We could produce up to 7.5 million tons of steel by the end of the year, and next year we planned to increase production to more than 10 million - said Kalenkov.

The loss of this mine is also a concern at higher levels. Ukrainian forces are actively defending the mine, as its capture could seriously undermine the country's economy and its defense potential. The situation in this direction remains tense, with ongoing combat actions and artillery shelling.

The Pokrovsk mine is one of the largest enterprises in Ukraine for the extraction of coking coal, which is key in steel production. The Russian army is trying to capture this strategic mine, but Ukrainian military forces are doing everything possible to prevent this.

The battle for Pokrovsk has already become the central event of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin's military campaign this year. It is expected that this battle will be decisive in the further development of the conflict in eastern Ukraine.
