Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was sacked by Besiktas in a brutal 40-word statement shortly after the defeat in the Conference League.
Termination of Solskjær's Contract
According to The Sun: Ole Gunnar Solskjær has left the position of head coach at the Turkish club 'Besiktas'.
This decision followed the disappointing defeat against the Swiss club 'Lausanne' in the playoff round of the UEFA Conference League.
GettyThe club issued an official statement saying:
“Our contract with coach Ole Gunnar Solskjær has been terminated by a decision of the board.
“After the meeting, our chairman, Serdal Adalı, thanked Solskjær for his work to date.
“We will respectfully present this information to the public.”
'Besiktas' could not qualify for the Conference League after a cumulative defeat of 1-2 in two matches against 'Lausanne'.
Solskjær's team started with a draw in the first game in Switzerland and hoped for a home victory to qualify for the tournament.
However, the shocking 0-1 defeat led the team to exit the competition and left their coach unemployed.
This is a developing story..
Solskjær's resignation came as a surprise to many fans, as the coach had been with the club for only a short time. Following poor results from 'Besiktas' in recent matches, particularly in European competitions, the stance of the club management became stricter. Now the team must find a new coach to bring the squad back on the path to success and secure victories in the national championship as well as in future European competitions.
