Alex Len is close to moving to Madrid's Real: contract details.
According to the publication Mundo Deportivo, Ukrainian center Alex Len is approaching a transfer to Madrid's 'Real'. This became known three days before the start of the 2025/2026 National Basketball Association (NBA) season when the 'New York Knicks' waived the player from their roster.
According to inkorr.com: Recently, Len worked under the guidance of 'Real's' head coach Sergio Scariolo, who was previously an assistant coach in Toronto. The Ukrainian, who has been playing in the NBA since 2013, has already played for teams such as the 'Phoenix Suns', 'Atlanta Hawks', 'Sacramento Kings', 'Toronto Raptors', 'Washington Wizards', and 'Los Angeles Lakers'.
Real Madrid in EuroLeague and the success of the Ukrainian national team
In September, Len signed a contract with the 'Knicks', but was waived in October. Currently, Madrid's 'Real' is in 13th place in the EuroLeague standings, having won three out of six matches.
Additionally, the Ukrainian national basketball team won against Slovakia and Switzerland in the pre-qualification for the men's World Championship 2027, which increases their chances of participating in the tournament.
After leaving 'New York Knicks', Alex Len may take a step towards 'Real' Madrid, which will happen a few days before the start of the NBA season. This will be an opportunity to continue his career in one of the strongest clubs in the world. The successes of the Ukrainian national team in pre-qualification also indicate the growing popularity of basketball in the country.
