French cyclist Loana Lecomte couldn't finish the mountain bike race at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. According to L'Equipe, the 24-year-old athlete, who was among the race leaders, fell during the descent due to handling issues. Lecomte temporarily lost consciousness. She was evacuated from the track on a stretcher. The cyclist's life is not in danger.
French President Emmanuel Macron expressed his support for Lecomte and wrote on social media: 'Loana - well done. We are thinking of her after her fall, she didn't lose.'
The race was won by Frenchwoman Pauline Ferrand-Prévot. Ukrainian Yana Belomoina also had no success - she dropped out of the race.
