Littler, who had previously lost six matches in a row against 'The Iceman', managed to focus and fight back from 0-2 down in the third set, keeping his hopes alive for his first World Grand Prix title.

The players even engaged in a celebration shouting competition before 'Nuclear' Littler finished the match with a final dart of 152, clinching the victory.

Littler said: 'It was very, very weird. Of course, I wasn’t happy when I was 2-0 down. In the first and second sets, I fought for every dart, but I couldn’t hit the doubles.'

Price started first, winning the opening leg, and again made loud shouts in the third leg, to which 'Nuclear' just smiled in response. However, Littler could not display his usual level of play, missing several opportunities to come back.

Suddenly, 'Nuclear' regrouped, winning the next three legs and narrowing the gap. However, Price was one step away from victory, and Littler saved himself with a throw of 154 as Price failed to convert three match darts, and the match went to a deciding set.

Eventually, 'Nuclear' let out a scream similar to Price's, closing in on victory and finishing the game with an impressive finishing throw.

Daniel Knoppert had earlier defeated Gary Anderson with a score of 3-1, and Jonny Clayton trounced Dirk van Duijvenbode 3-0.

This match marked a turning point in Littler's career, showcasing his ability to overcome adversity and compete at the highest level. Success not only opens new avenues for the young player but also highlights the importance of psychological resilience in sports. His victory over one of the strongest opponents in the world could be a significant milestone in his career and inspire other young darts players to achieve great victories.
