UN expands cash assistance program for Ukrainians: new categories of recipients have appeared.
According to a recent survey, half of Ukrainians are dissatisfied with the quality of food products and 32% of families have financial problems with food. Therefore, the World Food Program of the UN is expanding the list of aid recipients in Ukraine.
According to journalist Serhiy Korobkin, from November 8, 2024, the financial support program includes new categories of citizens living in the front-line territories. Previously, this assistance was available only to pensioners with low pensions, but then persons with childhood disabilities receiving state social assistance were added to it.
"The amount of assistance is the difference between 3250 UAH and the existing amount of state social assistance. For most recipients, this is about 889 UAH," explained Korobkin.
Under the new rules, persons of retirement age without the right to a pension, as well as adults and children with disabilities receiving state social assistance instead of a pension, have the right to assistance. To receive payments, it is necessary to meet certain criteria, such as residing in the territories of hostilities, receiving a lower amount of social assistance, lack of other residential aid, and absence of other international financial payments.
The Ministry of Social Policy reported that payments will start in a few weeks. The program will last for 6 months, with a budget of 284 million UAH. Money will be credited to bank accounts or through Ukrposhta along with regular social payments. Preliminary information indicates that over 400,000 people will receive new payments, in addition to 750,000 people who already receive assistance.
