Seven lawsuits have been filed against OpenAI in California. Relatives of the deceased and injured accuse the ChatGPT chatbot of contributing to suicides and the rise of mental disorders among users. The family of a 17-year-old boy from Georgia claims they received direct instructions on committing suicide from ChatGPT. According to the relatives, this led to the tragedy.Jacob Irvin, who also interacted with the bot, was hospitalized due to manic episodes. The lawsuits accuse OpenAI of wrongful death, assisted suicide, and involuntary manslaughter, stating that the company released the GPT-4o model without proper safety testing, prioritizing profits and user engagement duration over their safety.Demands of Victims' Relatives
