Harry Redknapp on his wife's battle with sepsis: It was one of the scariest times in my life.
Birthday on the Peak of Popularity
According to The Sun: Many who watched Harry Redknapp on the 'I’m A Celebrity' show may have noticed how important his wife Sandra is to him.
However, the former football manager admits that during their anniversary celebrations last June, the couple realized they had forgotten exactly when they became husband and wife.
Instagram/@harryredknappLaughing, Harry told the Sun on Sunday: “We couldn’t explain it to ourselves, it was funny. We went there to celebrate our anniversary - it’s a beautiful place in the New Forest. But we didn’t think about how many years we have been married. Over time it’s not that important anymore.”
“She was very, very ill”
Harry also noted that even if they had a significant date, they are not ones to renew their vows.
“We are quite humble, we don’t make a big fuss, so when we booked, we didn’t notify anyone about our anniversary. But someone from the family told them and after dinner they brought a cake to our table - it was very nice. It said it was 57 years. But in reality, it was our 56th anniversary.”
Harry and Sandra, who are now both 78, met when they were just 17 and became parents to two sons - Jamie and Mark.
Harry is known as a former player and manager of Tottenham Hotspur and gained popularity after his appearance on the show “I’m A Celeb” in 2018.

Difficult Times for the Family
These emotional moments of their meeting in the tele-jungle became the impetus for Sandra's popularity. Nevertheless, there was a moment when Harry thought he wouldn’t be able to enter the jungle - a few weeks ago, Sandra became seriously ill with sepsis.
Harry talks about how this prompted him to participate in a new campaign for the UK Sepsis Trust to raise awareness of this disease.
“It was one of the scariest moments in my life” - recalls Harry.
“She wasn’t feeling well, so she went to the doctor, and he prescribed her antibiotics, but nothing helped. That night we had to rush her to the hospital. She was very, very ill. It was terrible.”
Harry also emphasized that sepsis can lead to numerous health issues if not noticed in time.
Thieves May Be Caught
Recently, their home in Poole, Dorset, was the victim of a burglary in which Sandra’s jewelry was stolen. Harry noted: “Fortunately, we weren’t home. The police did what they could, but the thieves were not found.”
“It’s not worth focusing on that. We had protection, and they were caught on camera,” he added.
Harry and Sandra shared that they have been building their dream home for several years, and Harry admitted: “I don’t really help with the process - Sandra does everything. I just want a big TV.”
Harry looks forward to recording the new season of “I’m A Celeb” and wants to spend time with his grandchildren as they continue their lineage.
“We love spending time with them. I’m proud of them, no matter who they become in life, the most important thing is that they are good people.”
Harry and his wife Sandra’s recent revelations highlight how important family and health are in their lives. Every moment they focus on is immensely significant, especially considering the difficult times they have gone through. Celebrating their anniversary, they try not to focus on the small things, but to enjoy every day together.
