Passport and ID card have become invalid: what is the way out for Ukrainians.
Ukrainian citizens often find themselves in situations where their passport or other documents are no longer valid. Many people do not know what to do in such cases. Legal experts have provided explanations and advice for such situations.
For every person of Ukrainian citizenship, documents that prove identity are of great importance. Therefore, it is important to know the rules and norms related to passports and other documents. This is not just a formality, but a real necessity in everyday life.
According to Ukrainian legislation, a passport may be considered invalid and canceled if it is seriously damaged and unsuitable for use. Experts explained that such passports are canceled and destroyed.
The order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine establishes that a passport is considered unsuitable for use if it has the following damages:
- damages that make it impossible to identify the person and read the data in the passport;
- punched series and number of the passport;
- changes in personal data without permission;
- damages that interfere with reading the information from the passport;
- changes in the information entered in the passport without altering the owner's data.
In addition, a passport may be confiscated from the owner in the following cases:
If a person has lost their citizenship or has been released from it;
If the passport has been stolen and the procedure for issuing a new document has already been initiated;
If there were violations during the issuance of the passport, for example, a photo was glued without permission or incorrect data was provided;
If the applicant has not received the passport within a year;
Upon the death of the passport owner;
Upon the expiration of the passport validity period or upon a decision to exchange it before the expiration;
For errors in the information entered in the passport;
If an update of information in the passport is required due to changes in the owner's data.
If the physical passport is not valid, but the person needs to obtain a certificate from the internally displaced persons (IDP), they can use the electronic passport in the 'Diia' app. With it, one can obtain a certificate without the need to show the physical passport.
It is important to know that the electronic passport in the 'Diia' app has the same legal force as a regular paper passport, and it should be accepted by all state authorities. This is especially important for internally displaced persons who need to obtain documents in case of problems with a physical passport.
We remind you that pensioners are given the opportunity to receive a half-year payment in advance.
