EU countries support the creation of joint defense bonds
Representatives from Germany, France, Italy, Spain, and Poland have backed the idea of creating joint defense bonds that will help develop the defense industry of the European Union. This was reported by RBK-Ukraine, citing Euronews.
The Polish Foreign Minister, Radek Sikorski, considers this initiative 'a big deal' and notes that such bonds will help Europe resist Russia. He made this comment during a joint press conference in Warsaw with representatives of Germany, Italy, and France.
High-ranking diplomats from Spain and Great Britain were also present at the event via video link, and after the meeting, all countries signed a joint declaration.
The ministers of the EU member states agreed that Europe must take greater responsibility for its security and distribute the burden more evenly among NATO members. According to Sikorski, Russia remains one of the most serious threats to the security of Europe and the world.
The meeting also discussed issues related to increasing military support for Ukraine from Europe and establishing ties with the United States under the leadership of the new president, Donald Trump.
