Sikorski: Poland will provide logistical support to peacekeepers, but will not send troops to Ukraine.
Poland's support for the peacekeeping mission in Ukraine
Poland's Minister of Foreign Affairs Radoslaw Sikorski stated that Warsaw will not send its military to Ukraine, but is ready to provide support for a possible peacekeeping mission in other ways. He emphasized that Poland's involvement in the operation will not involve the presence of Polish troops on Ukrainian soil.
Instead, Poland offers support for an 'air bridge' and ensuring the security of the logistics hub in Rzeszów-Jasionka. The minister explained that this is necessary to protect the Polish border with Russia and Belarus and to guarantee the safety of troops that will be sent to Ukraine.
When asked about pressure from the U.S. to send troops to Ukraine, Sikorski responded negatively. He explained that the Polish authorities will be part of the operation, but without a direct military presence on Ukrainian territory.
Analysis:
Poland's cooperation with all parties in the conflict and its readiness to assist the peacekeeping mission indicate the importance of ensuring a peaceful and stable development of Ukraine. Support for the 'air bridge' and the protection of the logistics hub may prove crucial in ensuring security in the region.
