Paul Scholes laid out the cards: who among the ex-stars of Manchester United is vying for a position at Rangers.
Paul Scholes' revelation about the candidate for the Rangers coach position
According to The Sun: Paul Scholes stumbled upon information about possible negotiations involving one of Manchester United's icons with Rangers. The Scottish club is actively searching for a new coach following the dismissal of Russell Martin, who struggled to establish himself in the position — in 123 days he secured only one victory in seven matches in the Scottish Premier League.

Several candidates have already been put forward for this role. Initially, Steven Gerrard was considered the favorite, having had 'constructive' talks in London regarding the position at Ibrox. However, his unexpected refusal opened the door for other contenders.
- Sean Dyche
- Former Sheffield Wednesday coach Danny Roll
- Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna
- Former Southampton coach Ralph Hasenhüttl
- Michael Carrick, who was dismissed from Middlesbrough in June
However, Scholes mentioned that his friend had conversations with Rangers but didn't disclose the name. Nicky Butt from Class of ’92 confirmed that he knows who it is.
'I actually met with a guy who told me he has a meeting with Rangers,' Scholes said. 'I'm not sure if he did, but his name was not mentioned.'
Butt also asked if it was a former United coach, to which Scholes replied: 'No comment.'

Among other possible candidates is Ryan Giggs, who remains unemployed after being dismissed as manager of the Wales national team. His last role ended in November 2020 due to assault charges.
In the current situation, Rangers are at a crossroads and the search for a new head coach will be a critical step for the team's revival. The breakthrough candidate will determine not only the club's stability but also its prospects in upcoming competitions. Read also
