Pension as inheritance: who can receive it.
Heirs of a deceased pensioner have the right to unpaid pension and financial assistance for burial. To exercise these rights, it is necessary to contact the Pension Fund of Ukraine (PFU) within six months from the date of the inheritance opening.
In accordance with the Law of Ukraine "On Mandatory State Pension Insurance", heirs of a deceased pensioner have the right to receive unpaid pension funds.
This right belongs to family members and incapacitated families who lived with the deceased at the Time of his death. If several people are entitled to pension payments, the amount is divided equally among them.
To formalize the pension as an inheritance, it is necessary to contact the PFU service center or submit an online application through the PFU web portal. Along with the application, it is necessary to provide the pensioner's death certificate, documents confirming family ties, the applicant's passport, bank account details, and certificates confirming cohabitation with the pensioner.
In addition to receiving the unpaid pension, heirs also have the right to a one-time burial assistance. The amount of this assistance depends on the social guarantees effective at the time of the pensioner's death.
If there are several heirs entitled to unpaid pension funds, they must submit an application together or separately, and the amount is evenly distributed among them. In case of disputes regarding the inheritance, the matter can be resolved through the court.
An application for receiving the pension as inheritance must be submitted within six months from the date of the pensioner's death. After this period, heirs may lose the right to receive unpaid funds if sufficient grounds for extending the period are not provided.
Citizens can contact the PFU service center or submit an online application through the web portal to file an application and receive consultation regarding the necessary documents.
