Negotiation Details
The discussions took place in Abu Dhabi on January 23-24. According to Reuters, there are currently no signs of a compromise regarding the contested territories. Rubio emphasized that, despite the challenges, negotiators have successfully narrowed the agenda down to this one central point. He noted that this remains a significant bridge to cross and that finding a solution for Donbas's status will continue to be an immensely difficult task.
These talks represent a critical step in seeking a peaceful resolution to a conflict that has now lasted over a year. The status of Donbas is a pivotal issue requiring agreement between the warring parties. The outcome of further discussions could significantly impact regional stability and international relations, particularly concerning the role of the United States in facilitating a settlement.
