Expert Warns of Kremlin's Disinterest and Delaying Tactics Ahead of Geneva Talks.
Expert Voices Concern Over Negotiations with Russia
According to TSN.ua: Analyst Ralf Hoff has expressed serious concern about the drawn-out negotiation process with Russia, stating there is no genuine interest from the Russian side in substantive dialogue. In his comments, he stressed that Western pressure is essential for achieving any progress in the talks.
Geneva Negotiations Scheduled
Talks involving Ukraine, the United States, and Russia are scheduled for February 17-18 in Geneva. The Russian delegation at these talks will include Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin. Hoff observed that Russia traditionally adopts maximalist positions, which complicates the dialogue process. These talks are part of ongoing diplomatic efforts to address the security crisis in Eastern Europe.
'I currently see no signs that the Russian side is genuinely interested in substantive negotiations,' noted Ralf Hoff.
He also called for the West to take active measures, asserting that 'the West must consistently increase pressure on both military and economic fronts.' These comments underscore the complexity of the current situation and the need for decisive steps from the international community.
The upcoming Geneva talks could represent a critical juncture in resolving the conflict between Ukraine and Russia. However, if the Russian side fails to demonstrate a readiness for constructive dialogue, the prospects for a peaceful settlement may remain distant. Expert statements like Hoff's highlight the necessity for Western efforts to focus on pressuring Moscow to ensure progress in peace negotiations.
