Energy reform risks repeating past mistakes: expert names the reasons.
Energy sector reform: possible past mistakes
According to inkorr.com: Oleg Popenko, head of the 'Union of Utility Consumers', outlined three key reasons why the reform of the energy sector may lead to repeating past mistakes. He shared this on his Telegram channel, according to information from 'Hvylya'.
'Legendary Nemirovich-Danchenko once said: 'I do not believe'. And now these words are becoming most relevant in the context of the announced 'restart' of the energy sector. Again, promises are heard about systematic changes, updates in leadership, and supervisory boards.'
Popenko expressed his dissatisfaction with the announced 'restart' of the energy sector, noting that the new changes could repeat old mistakes. He pointed out that the selection of members for supervisory boards is entrusted to people who have already failed to implement reforms successfully. It is this team that has led to a loss of corporate standards and real accountability.
He also emphasized that losing control over key energy companies, such as 'Naftogaz' and 'Ukrenergo', could lead to serious problems in the energy sector.
Popenko noted that hoping for changes from those who have already made mistakes in managing the energy sector is unreasonable. He called for genuine changes that should concern those responsible for the effective management of state structures.
Recently, there has been information about possible attempts to create municipal 'traps' for Ukrainians during the winter period.
Analyzing Oleg Popenko's speech, it is worth emphasizing that his doubts regarding the reform of the energy sector highlight the importance of a careful approach to reforms. It is necessary to take into account the experience of past attempts and avoid repeating mistakes, ensuring effective and responsible management of energy companies to achieve a new level of quality in this field.
