According to The Sun: The PERONI company is discontinuing its popular lager, which was launched only two years ago. Despite customers considering it the 'perfect summer' beer, sales proved lower than expected.

The beverage giant Asahi UK introduced Peroni Nastro Azzurro Stile Capri in March 2023 in an attempt to attract a younger audience.

Unfortunately, sales did not meet expectations, and the company made the 'difficult decision' to cancel this beverage.

However, many buyers still speak positively about the product, noting its 'refreshing lemon citrus flavor' and 'high quality.'

“I bought this beer for my grandson, we don't drink lagers, but he told me he liked it with friends.'

One review on Tesco states:

“Cool, light, and refreshing beer! Perfectly cold on a summer day, with food or just on its own!”

Another customer remarked:

“This is my favorite beer. Great taste. Easy to drink. I will definitely buy again.”

Consumers particularly appreciated the lighter version with 4.2% alcohol compared to the traditional 5.1% Azzuro product.

“Very light with a hint of sweetness and just a touch of bitterness,” noted one commenter.

Peroni Stile Capri, produced and imported from Italy, was sold in an elegant clear bottle.

Industry experts believed this product could compete with Corona, the popular Mexican lager from AB InBev. Asahi invested significantly in its promotion.

Initial investments totaled £3 million, with an additional £17 million for a European campaign.

However, the popularity of Stile Capri began to decline. An Asahi representative reported that the product attracted the interest of young consumers, but unfortunately, it 'did not achieve the desired scale in the UK.'

Asahi UK has yet to clarify when the process of withdrawing the product from sale will begin.

However, the beer has already disappeared from the shelves of major supermarkets like Asda and Waitrose, and online shoppers at Tesco are informed that 'this product is currently out of stock.'

  • Loyalty cards can also offer additional discounts.

The situation with Peroni Stile Capri demonstrates how crucial it is for companies to adapt their strategies to consumer tastes. Despite positive feedback, insufficient demand hindered this product. This may serve as a lesson for other brands in developing novelties in the beer market.
