Kharkiv becomes energy independent
Kharkiv will be the first city in Ukraine to fully reorganize its heating, water, and power supply systems. Despite ongoing Russian shelling, the city will become energy independent. This was announced by Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov.
This is a strategic project that lays the foundation for independent infrastructure operation for decades to come
The Mayor of Kharkiv noted that the implementation of the project will provide stable utility services to all residents of the city during the upcoming heating seasons, regardless of the military conflict and the energy situation in the country.
And today at the session we took another important step to accelerate the completion of the decentralization process and transfer the necessary equipment to city ownership
In April, the Kharkiv authorities announced their intention to abandon centralized heating. This year, the heating season ended earlier due to a shortage of electricity caused by Russian strikes on critical infrastructure.
After that, preparations for the next heating season began, planning to differentiate the heating network. Part of the city will remain connected to centralized heating, while the other part will receive modular boiler houses.
As reported, Kharkiv will provide compensation for 70% of the costs of purchasing generators for associations of apartment owners and cooperatives.
In addition, Kharkiv entrepreneurs were exempted from some taxes.
