The stocks of several South Korean companies linked to the streaming service Netflix have significantly decreased following the release of the second season of 'Squid Game'. Bloomberg reports this.

The stocks of Artist United, a company engaged in film distribution and marketing, fell by 30%. Previously, these stocks belonged to the show's main actor Lee Jung-jae.

The stocks of another investor in Artist United, Wysiwyg Studios, decreased by 25%, while the Korean partner of Netflix, Dexter Studios, saw a drop of 24%.

The first season of 'Squid Game' became the most popular show on Netflix in their entire shared history. In the first 28 days after its premiere in September 2021, it was watched for over 1.65 billion hours. Thus, the show earned approximately 837 million dollars.

Criticism of the Second Season

The second season of the series, which aired on December 26, was eagerly anticipated by many fans. However, although the series received 85% positive reviews from critics on Rotten Tomatoes and 65% among viewers, some reviews turned out to be less favorable. The American newspaper The New York Times noted that the new season 'had great ambitions but failed to achieve them'.
