After the war, men may leave Ukraine: demographic forecast
According to the Director of the Institute of Demography and Social Studies named after M.V. Ptukha of the NAS of Ukraine Ella Libanova, a mass emigration of the population is not expected after the end of the war in Ukraine. Most women currently in the country are likely to stay here, while some men may go abroad. This forecast was provided as part of the 'Orestocracy' program on 'Wave'.

According to inkorr.com:

Conclusions regarding the emigration of women and men

The expert noted that most women who wanted to leave Ukraine due to the war have already realized their plans. Those who remain in place may not have been able to implement their relocation under current conditions, as the status of refugees abroad has worsened. At the same time, support for Ukrainian women abroad in 2022 has significantly decreased or ceased.

Potential emigration of men after the war

Regarding men, experts predict that after the conflict ends, emigration will primarily be observed among them. This will especially apply to situations where relatives are already abroad: if a partner has successfully adapted to a new life, has a job and social connections, and children are already studying in local schools, men may decide to join the family permanently, especially if they do not have their own housing or stable sources of income in Ukraine.

Thus, demographic forecasts indicate that Ukrainian women who remain in the country are unlikely to plan to emigrate, while men may choose to go abroad, especially in light of significant changes in their families' living conditions. This may become an important factor for the state in planning future socio-demographic processes.
