Pizza Hut closes 68 restaurants in the UK: what is known about the reasons.
Closure of Pizza Hut restaurants
According to The Sun: Pizza Hut has announced the closure of 68 restaurants in the UK, marking another blow to the hospitality sector which is facing tough times. Yesterday, The Sun reported that DC London Pie Limited, the franchise owner of Pizza Hut in the UK, has initiated bankruptcy proceedings.
The company managing Pizza Hut restaurants operating under a franchise agreement has engaged financial firm FTI to address its issues.
“Consumer demand has sharply decreased, forcing us to make these difficult decisions,” company representatives stated.
These closures demonstrate an overall decline in the industry, where not only large brands are suffering, but also small establishments due to decreased foot traffic.
Such decisions have extremely negative impacts on the labor market, as thousands of people may find themselves without jobs. Furthermore, it highlights new challenges faced by businesses in the hospitality sector, which relies on stable consumer demand.
