Beating and extortion in the Armed Forces brigade: Syrsky responded to the scandal.
The General Staff has started checking possible abuses in the pontoon-bridge brigade
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has started an investigation into the possible abuses in the 211th pontoon-bridge brigade of the Support Forces of the Armed Forces. By the decision of the Commander-in-Chief, a commission from the Military Law Enforcement Service has been sent to the military unit, and the commander of the unit has been suspended from duty during the investigation.
According to 'Ukrainska Pravda', there have been recorded cases of abuse against servicemen, extortion of money, and nepotism in the brigade. In particular, one of the soldiers reported beatings and threats from platoon commander Vladislav Pastukh, who is the son of the chief of staff.
A serviceman testified to facts of physical violence during rotations in Dnipropetrovsk and Donetsk regions, including beatings and being tied to a wooden cross. A journalistic investigation also revealed that personnel were involved in the construction of a private house of the brigade commander in Khmelnytskyi region.
Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets has taken the situation under personal control and sent appropriate appeals to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Military Law Enforcement Service.
The General Staff reported that an internal investigation on some of the mentioned facts had already been conducted in September, with the materials handed over to the competent authorities and a criminal proceeding opened.
