Police clarified the rules for checking the first aid kit in cars: what needs to be shown.
According to inkorr.com: In Ukraine, drivers often discuss the need to demonstrate a medical first aid kit during police checks. According to the Traffic Rules, drivers are obliged to have a first aid kit in their car that meets established standards and is intended for providing emergency medical assistance. Police can check for the presence of a first aid kit, but they are not required to check its contents.
“The law does not require the car owner to take the first aid kit out of the car or hand it over to the police - it is enough just to show where it is located”
The fine for the absence of a first aid kit in personal transport is usually small, but for commercial transport, it can be significantly larger due to stricter safety requirements. However, there are no fines for expired medications or incomplete contents in the first aid kit; the main requirement is the presence of the first aid kit itself.
Thus, Ukrainian drivers must have a medical first aid kit in their vehicle according to the standards. The patrol police may check if the first aid kit is in place but do not have the right to check its contents. In case of its absence, a fine may be imposed.
These rules are important for ensuring safety on the roads. The presence of a first aid kit can be a decisive factor in the event of an accident, so drivers should pay attention to their cars and have everything necessary for providing first aid.
