Poland has stopped providing free housing for refugees from Ukraine: who will receive exceptions.
Poland has stopped accommodating refugees from Ukraine in collective centers and has introduced fees for children. This information was published by the portal Yavp.pl.
Changes in the living conditions of refugees
According to inkorr.com: Since the beginning of November 2025, the Polish government has made important changes to the conditions for the accommodation of Ukrainian refugees. This is due to updated legislation regarding assistance to Ukrainian citizens. Now Ukrainians who have a PESEL UKR number can no longer stay for free in state collective accommodation centers.
Exceptions to the new rules
However, there are exceptions for socially disadvantaged categories of the population. These include:
- persons with disabilities;
- women over 60;
- men over 65 who do not receive a Polish pension;
- pregnant women;
- young mothers;
- single mothers with three or more children.
New rules for payment and eviction
At the same time, new payment rules for accommodation in centers are being introduced for Ukrainians who do not fall under the privileged categories.
Ukrainians who stayed in the centers until the end of October will need to pay 15 zlotys per day from November 1. In addition, governors have been given the authority to immediately evict residents for serious violations of the rules, such as drugs on the premises or violence.
For detailed information and accommodation, it is advisable to contact the voivodeship offices where the person is located.
Thus, the Polish government has decided to change the living conditions of Ukrainian refugees by introducing payment for accommodation and new rules regarding the allocation of housing in state centers. Violating the new norms may lead to immediate eviction. Details can be found at the office where the person resides.
