10,000 Anti-Drone Missiles Per Year: Poland and Estonia Join Forces to Build New Factory.
Poland and Estonia Sign Deal for Joint Missile Production Facility
According to UATV: A newly signed agreement between Poland and Estonia paves the way for constructing a plant dedicated to manufacturing short-range surface-to-air missiles designed to intercept drones. This initiative directly addresses pressing security concerns in the region, following an incident involving Ukrainian drones that entered the airspace of Estonia and Latvia.
The planned facility will have an annual production capacity of up to 10,000 missiles. With a range of 8 kilometers, these weapons are intended to provide an effective countermeasure against aerial threats. The partnership aims to bolster regional defense capabilities amid rising geopolitical tensions.
Estonian Defense Minister Hanno Pevkur stated that the decision is not a response to Ukraine's actions but rather a consequence of Russian aggression against Ukraine.
This agreement marks a significant step in strengthening the defensive posture of the Baltic states, which face increasing pressure from Russia. It also reflects a strong commitment to active security and defense collaboration, potentially enhancing regional stability in the face of modern threats.
- The production of these surface-to-air missiles will help improve the protection of national borders.
- It reinforces collective security efforts within NATO.
