Poland refused to extradite a Ukrainian to Germany

According to inkorr.com: The Polish court did not satisfy Germany's request to extradite Ukrainian Volodymyr Zh., suspected of blowing up the 'Nord Stream' pipelines. The district court in Warsaw canceled the suspect's temporary arrest and decided not to hand him over to the German side.

This decision received support from Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk. In his social media post, he wrote:

'The Polish court refused to extradite a Ukrainian to Germany, suspected of blowing up 'Nord Stream 2', and released him from custody. And it did the right thing. The case is closed.'

Details of the arrest and the situation

Volodymyr Zh. was arrested on September 30 this year in the Polish town of Pruszkuv based on a German European arrest warrant due to explosions at the 'Nord Stream' pipelines. It is known that this refers to Volodymyr Zhuravlyov, for whom Germany issued a warrant in June 2024.

This is not the first case of this kind. The Supreme Court of Italy also completed the extradition procedure to Germany of another Ukrainian, Serhiy Kuznetsov, suspected of being involved in the blowing up of Russian gas pipelines.

Thus, the Polish court decided not to satisfy Germany's extradition requirements for the Ukrainian regarding the 'Nord Stream' explosion case, releasing him from custody and declaring the case closed.

This event may indicate tension in international relations, especially considering the situation regarding energy security in Europe. The refusal of extradition also highlights the complexity of legal processes in the context of international communication when it comes to serious criminal cases and national interests.
