According to ТСН: On Wednesday, a shooting incident occurred in downtown Washington, near the White House, during which a man opened fire on two U.S. National Guard members.
According to data obtained by CNN, the FBI has preliminarily identified the shooter. Sources indicate that the initial identification matches the identity of a man who arrived from Afghanistan to the U.S. in August 2021.
One law enforcement officer emphasized that the fingerprints of the detained individual allowed them to ascertain his name, but investigators are still continuing the verification and validation of the obtained data.
CBS News also confirms that the suspect is 29 years old, and his name is
Rahmanullah Lakanwal.
According to two sources, the attacker used a pistol.
Earlier, it was reported that two National Guard service members were shot near the White House.
