Stricter Border Controls with Moldova: New Document Required for Drivers.
Document Checks Intensify at the Moldova Border
According to Novyny.live: Authorities have ramped up document inspections at border crossing points with Moldova. Drivers planning to cross must now present an international vehicle technical inspection certificate. Failure to provide this certificate could result in being denied entry into Moldova.
Required Papers for Crossing the Border
To successfully cross the border, drivers need to carry several documents. These include:
- a valid international passport;
- a driver's license for the appropriate vehicle category;
- vehicle registration certificate;
- an international 'Green Card' insurance policy;
- a Moldova vignette.
Meeting all requirements is critical, as non-compliance can complicate travel plans.
Additionally, there is a list of prohibited items that cannot be brought into Moldova. These include:
- any weapons, special equipment, or ammunition;
- psychotropic or narcotic substances;
- strictly controlled medications without a prescription;
- meat and dairy products;
- bee honey;
- live plants, shrubs, and seedlings without phytosanitary permits.
A video surveillance system is also planned for the Odesa-to-Reni highway, aiming to boost security and oversight on that route. In Odesa Oblast, four border crossing points with Moldova have already been modernized, which should streamline procedures for drivers and passengers. These efforts are designed to improve enforcement of border-crossing rules and enhance overall safety.
With stricter document controls at the Moldova border, Ukraine seeks to ensure higher security and compliance with crossing regulations. The requirement for an international vehicle inspection certificate could significantly affect how drivers plan their trips. Furthermore, the modernization of border posts and the introduction of video surveillance may reduce wait times and increase control efficiency. These measures not only aim to strengthen border security but also to simplify the crossing process for citizens of both countries.
