Possibility to submit a reparations application for affected Ukrainians
Citizens of Ukraine who have suffered due to the armed aggression of the Russian Federation can submit a reparations application to the International Register of Damages for Ukraine. This information was published by the Ministry of Health.'If you or your loved ones have suffered due to the armed aggression of the Russian Federation - have physical or mental injuries, suffered harm to health, experienced violence, unlawful imprisonment, or torture - you have the right to submit a reparations application to the International Register of Damages for Ukraine (RD4U). This can be done through the Diia portal.The application can be submitted in category A2.3 'Serious bodily harm', which includes compensation for moral damage caused by serious injuries. Medical or rehabilitation expenses can be added to the application.Serious bodily harm covers significant damage or loss of body parts, severe injuries affecting appearance, substantial loss of organ or body part functions, as well as immediate termination of pregnancy and other injuries that significantly reduce the quality of life of the victim.The Ministry of Health also noted that all applications will be reviewed by a special commission, and the decisions regarding compensation will be communicated through the personal account on the Diia portal and by email. There is also a possibility of submitting applications simultaneously from different categories, such as sexual violence, torture, or captivity.Thus, Ukrainians who have suffered from the armed aggression of the Russian Federation can have the opportunity to submit a reparations application through the Diia portal, including compensation for moral damages and treatment costs. The review of the application and the issue of receiving compensation will be coordinated by a commission involving the Ministry of Health.This initiative allows the victims to receive support and recognition of their suffering. Providing compensation can be an important step towards restoring justice for the victims of aggression and easing their path to healing.
