Poundland closes 48 stores: which addresses are included in the cuts.
According to The Sun: Today, POUNDLAND closed 12 branches as part of a network restructuring to save the business. A major sale has begun, with prices reduced by up to 75%.
Poundland is currently going through a difficult period due to the closure of 48 stores this month. In August, 25 branches closed, today - 12, and another 11 will close by August 31. The network currently has 800 stores across the UK and hopes to reduce this number to 650-700.
Plans for closures were announced back in June when the investment firm Gordon Brothers bought Poundland for 1 pound. The issue of store closures will be resolved in court. For now, the stores are closed to customers, but the lease agreements have not yet been transferred to the owners.
Experts warn of difficulties in retail due to inflation and rising costs. Stabilization is only possible if the Poundland plan is approved, otherwise, it could lead to further store closures and job losses.
Unfavorable trends in retail are already deepening, with warnings of thousands of store closures and the loss of hundreds of thousands of jobs by 2025.
