Poundland closes 18 stores: in which cities sales with a 40% discount have started.
According to The Sun: The Poundland store network is giving its customers one last chance to shop profitably during the sales at 18 locations that are set to close.
Among the closed stores are branches in Twickenham, Leicester, Burnley, and Peckham, with the closures starting this weekend.
Poundland has launched discounts of up to 40% in 18 stores GettyCustomers are offered discounts of up to 40% on various products: from food and clothing to cosmetics and hygiene products.
Poundland confirmed that these sales are part of their restructuring and business recovery plan.
This plan was approved by the High Court in August, saving the chain from bankruptcy that threatened the company due to lack of funds.
The program to close 68 stores has already been completed: 57 of them were closed by September 28, while another 11 closures were paused.
The sales will allow the brand to focus on the most profitable locations.
Initially, the chain had 800 stores, but after all the changes, between 650 and 700 will remain.
Discounts at the last stores
Poundland's Retail Director Darren MacDonald noted:
“We know how unpleasant it is to say goodbye to a store, but before we close our doors, we aim to say farewell by offering even more great prices to our customers.”
“These special discounts, along with ongoing price offerings across the chain, will help us proudly leave these locations.”
Despite financial difficulties, the brand will continue its operations in the UK.
Additional changes in the Poundland network
It is important to note that customers can no longer purchase products through the Poundland website.
Additionally, the Poundland Perks loyalty program has been closed, and participants in the program have until January 15, 2026, to use their discount vouchers.
The chain will also close its frozen food supply center and digital distribution center this year.
A closure of the national distribution center in Bilston is also planned for early 2026.
Poundland has launched large sales in many stores, with discounts reaching 90%.
This news is part of a strategy to return to basics, and the number of items sold for 1 pound has increased to 60% in stores.
Additionally, new price categories of 1, 2, and 3 pounds for food products were introduced in all stores last month.
The sales starting in closed stores may be the last chance for customers to purchase necessary items at significant discounts. So, if you plan to shop at Poundland, don't miss the opportunity to take advantage of great offers, as this time promotional discounts could be really beneficial!
