On March 27, Ukraine’s Air Defense Downs 93 out of 102 Russian Drones in Massive Overnight Strike.
Russia’s Latest Attack on Ukraine
According to UATV: In the early hours of March 27, Russia launched a large-scale drone assault on Ukraine, deploying 102 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The swarm included Shahed, Gerbera, and Itelmas-type drones, with approximately 60 of them being Shahed models. The launch sites spanned five locations: Kursk, Oryol, Millerovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk in the Russian Federation, as well as Hvardiiske in Crimea.
Air Defense Response and Impact
Ukrainian air defense forces successfully intercepted 93 of the incoming drones. However, nine drones struck eight separate locations, and falling debris was reported at four additional sites. Compounding the assault, Russian forces also launched over 70 attacks across four districts in the Dnipropetrovsk region.
This escalation is part of the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, now in its third year. The growing reliance on drone warfare highlights shifting battlefield tactics and poses significant challenges for air defense systems. The situation remains volatile, with further developments likely to shape regional security dynamics.
