TCC employees are prohibited from detaining people in the street: lawyer's explanation.
According to inkorr.com: Lawyer Kateryna Anishchenko emphasized that TCC employees have no right to detain people, use force, or check documents in the street, reports KYIV24. She highlighted that their authority is limited only to issuing summonses for military conscripts related to updating data or undergoing military medical commissions outside the center.
'Typically, this is data updating. Document checks of citizens with military conscription status outside TCC premises can only be conducted by police officers,' - explained the lawyer.
She also added that a police officer can intervene only if the citizen seeks help during the use of force by TCC employees. Anishchenko expressed hope that the implementation of body cameras in TCC operations could help protect the rights of military conscripts.
Moreover, the lawyer noted that TCC employees should not act like police on the streets and must adhere to their limited authority in communicating with citizens. She emphasized the importance of upholding the law and citizens' rights, which can be ensured by the use of body cameras in TCC activities.
Earlier, there was information that a scandalous military commissioner was released on bail.
The lawyer's words underline the importance of respecting citizens' rights in the TCC's work process, especially in the context of military duties. The implementation of innovative technologies, such as body cameras, can be a positive step toward ensuring transparency and human rights protection in this area.
