British pregnant drug courier sentenced in Georgia: family raises money for her release.
Situation with Bella Cully
According to The Sun: 19-year-old Bella Cully, detained for drug smuggling, has only been visited once by British representatives, her lawyer claims. The girl, currently in a Georgian prison, was arrested in May with drugs worth £200,000 and could face up to 20 years in prison.
The British teenager was caught with a large quantity of drugs upon arrival from Thailand.Lawyer's Statement
The girl's lawyer, Malakhaz Salakaia, expressed outrage over the inadequate support from British authorities. He finds this situation unacceptable.
“I am dissatisfied with the support from the British authorities for my client,” he said.
Cully, a resident of Billingham, claims she was forced into smuggling by a Thai gang that threatened her with violence. She noted that upon arrest, 30 pounds of marijuana and hashish were found.
The British Foreign Office stated that they had contact with Bella's family, but only one person visited her since her arrest.
She is in a horrific Georgian prison.
Developments
The situation is escalating as Cully's family has received information about the need to pay a 'significant amount' for her return home or reduction of her prison term, rumored to be around £100,000.
The lawyer noted that a deal with the Georgian prosecutors is close to completion: “The higher the fine amount, the less time she will serve, including the possibility of full release.”
“Currently, Bella's family is not ready to pay the demanded amount,” he added.

Now the Cully family is trying to raise funds to end her plight in prison, while the amounts remain unknown.
She is held in a brutal Georgian prison No.5.
Pressure on Cully
“At the time of her arrest, she had no ill intent - she was under pressure and forced, and this is supported by irrefutable evidence,” Salakaia noted.
It should be noted that Bella claims she was forced into smuggling and her family was blackmailed. She still does not know what Georgia is.
The situation leaves the Cully family in a deep financial crisis, as they need to raise a large sum for her release.
