According to UATV: During a summit of Nordic and Baltic nations held in Tallinn on June 9, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen stressed the urgent need to expand defense collaboration across Scandinavia and the Baltic area to bolster European security. She argued that current threats demand a significant strengthening of the region’s military capabilities. This gathering brought together leaders focused on countering shared risks in a volatile geopolitical landscape.

Turning to the war in Ukraine, Frederiksen declared that

“Ukraine is defending its country and our free, open, and democratic Europe with incredible strength”

“it is extremely important for us to enhance our defense capacity and resilience”

The summit followed an informal EU leaders’ meeting held in the Republic of Cyprus in late April. Cooperation among Nordic and Baltic states has become increasingly critical as the region confronts emerging security challenges that threaten stability.
