Nottingham Forest will expand the stadium to 45,000 seats: how the arena will change.
Expansion of Nottingham Forest Stadium
According to The Sun: The Nottingham Forest club has signed an agreement with architects who worked on the expansion of Anfield Stadium to upgrade its own stadium.
This could allow the City Ground capacity to increase to 45,000 spectators.
Shutterstock EditorialAlthough Nottingham Forest has already received preliminary approval for the upgrades, the club has decided to abandon the old plans and turn to KSS Group.
The architects have prepared ambitious projects that include expanding the Peter Taylor Stand to 15,000 seats, making it one of the largest stands in English football.
Initially, the plan was to increase the capacity from 30,000 to 35,000, and construction was set to begin next year.
However, the new KSS drawings increase the height of the new stand to 58 meters, which is 20 meters higher than the initial plans.
The architects also want to build a new stand behind the existing one so as not to reduce capacity during construction work.
The club is considering adding another 5,000 seats by filling the corners of the Trent End stand.
Final figures regarding the new capacity will be announced after the project is confirmed, but it is expected to range from 43,000 to 45,000 seats.
These plans are expected to receive approval from the Rushcliffe Borough Council.
KSS Architects Experience
KSS has already renovated two stands at Anfield in recent years and has worked on new training grounds for Liverpool and Leicester.
KSS was initially set to be the architects for the Elland Road stadium upgrade, but the club chose to go with another firm.
Another architect, Konstantinos Hatzimanolis, is also involved in the City Ground project. He was appointed by club owner Evangelos Marinakis, who also owns Olympiacos and Rio Ave.
It is not entirely clear what will happen if the club gets relegated, but for now, they wish to continue modernization and expansion.
A 45,000-seat stadium will become the largest in the East Midlands, as Leicester's plans to increase capacity to 40,000 are currently on hold.

Such changes signify that Nottingham Forest plans to strengthen its position in English football and improve comfort for fans. As the experience of other clubs shows, stadium modernization can significantly enhance the attractiveness of the team and attract more viewers, which is important for financial stability in modern football.
The stadium expansion will be an important step for the club on its path to achieving new sporting heights. At the same time, the successful implementation of the project could strengthen their status in the East Midlands and draw even more attention to the team.
