PrivatBank Warns of ATM Glitches: What to Do If Cash Is Not Dispensed.
Issues With Cash Withdrawals at Self-Service Terminals
According to Novyny.live: Clients of PrivatBank are reporting problems when trying to withdraw cash from self-service terminals. One specific case involves a terminal failing to dispense 20,000 UAH. The customer affected by this issue is currently awaiting a refund, but the expected timeline for reimbursement has been postponed multiple times.
According to reports, the terminal initially indicated funds would be returned within 30 minutes, but this did not happen. While the results of a cash collection audit are typically known within 1 to 7 days, bank representatives state the process can sometimes be drawn out for up to 14 days. The bank has also cautioned clients about the risk of technical failures due to frequent power outages, which can negatively impact terminal operations. These disruptions are a significant concern in regions experiencing unstable infrastructure.
Refund Procedures and Recommendations
The procedure for recovering funds can last from 5 to 30 days or more, and in some instances, up to 180 days. If an ATM fails to dispense cash, customers are advised to follow a specific set of actions:
- Contact the customer support service;
- Photograph the ATM's identification number;
- Provide your card details;
- If the card is retained by the machine, block it immediately.
To reduce the risk of financial loss, clients are recommended to avoid unfamiliar ATMs, use machines belonging to their card-issuing bank whenever possible, and refrain from withdrawing large sums. These precautions can help prevent similar situations in the future. For customers in Ukraine, using digital payment options where available can provide an alternative during such service interruptions.
This situation underscores the importance of security during financial transactions, especially under conditions of unstable power supply. Customers should remain vigilant and adhere to the bank's guidelines to minimize the risk of losing funds. Problems with self-service terminals can affect trust in banking services, so the bank should consider taking measures to improve the stability and reliability of its systems.
