Sales of new cars in Ukraine fell by 15%: who is the market leader in August.
According to inkorr.com: In August, the Ukrainian market for new cars experienced a 15% decline compared to last year, although compared to July, sales increased. According to the Automotive Market Research Institute, over the month, Ukrainians and companies purchased 6.9 thousand new passenger cars.
Popular brands and models
Among the most popular car brands in Ukraine are still Toyota, BYD, and Volkswagen. The leading models have become Renault Duster, BYD Song Plus, and Toyota RAV4. As for domestic production, the most in-demand model was Skoda Karoq, with sales of 83 units.
The vast majority of cars, as before, were imported - 97.9% of all sales. Local production remains underdeveloped: in August, only 149 cars of Ukrainian assembly were registered.
Sales structure
Research shows that individuals bought over 72% of new cars, while only 27% were purchased by companies. Among types of engines, gasoline cars remain the most common with a share of 31.7%, while electric vehicles grew to 28.1%. Hybrids occupy third place with 23.2%, and the popularity of diesel cars has decreased to 16.9% of the market.
Market prospects
In August, the Ukrainian market for new cars shows some improvement compared to July, but the overall sales volume remains lower than the figures for the same period last year. While the popularity of well-known brands continues, cars of Ukrainian production still do not have a significant impact on the market. The growing interest in electric vehicles indicates a gradual transformation of the Ukrainian automotive market in favor of more environmentally friendly and modern technologies.
Thus, despite seasonal fluctuations, the market for new cars in Ukraine continues to adapt to new trends. The increasing popularity of electric vehicles may become a key factor in changing the market structure in the near future. It is important to keep track of further changes, as consumer preferences can significantly affect the situation in the industry.
