The project of electricity production by Poland for Ukraine is actually "frozen" - source.
Ukraine and Poland have not started implementing the electricity production project
The project of electricity production by Poland for Ukraine is currently in a frozen state. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to a source familiar with the matter.
"There is nothing new on this project, except for the statements made by the Polish side back in the summer," said the interlocutor.
In July, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced the possibility of producing electricity for Ukraine at Polish thermal power plants. The idea was to build a second power transmission line Rzeszow - Khmelnitsky NPP, which would double the import capacity - up to 1.6 GW. However, Poland demanded the abolition of the CO2 emissions tax for electricity production using coal.
According to the interlocutor, the idea has almost no chance of implementation. He believes that the European Commission is unlikely to abolish the tax on harmful emissions. In addition, rules for access to interstate crossings will need to be changed for targeted electricity supplies.
