PSG accuses the French national team of the injuries to Dembélé and Due: the club demands changes.
According to The Sun: The football club PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN expressed discontent with the French Football Federation over the injuries suffered by star players Ousmane Dembélé and Desire Due during the national team gatherings.
The Parisians are outraged as both players suffered muscle injuries during France's match against Ukraine, which deprived them of the opportunity to play in key matches, including the Champions League match against Barcelona on October 1.
GettyDembélé, who is 28, suffered a thigh injury in the 81st minute after coming on as a substitute in the second half of the game.
Due left the match due to calf issues during halftime.
The club confirmed that Dembélé will miss approximately six weeks, while Due will be out for about four. PSG does not hold back accusations against the national team.
In its statement, the Ligue 1 champions accused the national team of neglecting medical recommendations and insufficient communication with the club's medical staff, even though the club provided detailed information about the players' conditions before training began.
“Paris Saint-Germain regrets that medical recommendations were not taken into account by the national team's medical staff.”
“There was a complete absence of consultations with the medical teams.”
The club characterized the situation as 'serious and preventable' and called for the urgent establishment of a new protocol for cooperation between clubs and the national team to protect the health and careers of players.
“Recent serious and preventable incidents should lead to swift and immediate corrective actions.”
The head coach of France Didier Deschamps defended his decision, claiming that Dembélé was fit enough to play.
“I was confident that he was capable of playing at a high level, otherwise, I would not have put him on.”
At the same time, PSG disagrees with this position.
These injuries have become a significant loss for the French champions, who have lost two key players at a crucial moment in the season. Dembélé is even considered a potential candidate for the Ballon d'Or.
While the club confirmed its 'commitment' to the French national team, it demands substantial changes in how players are managed between the club and the national team.
PSG emphasizes the need for 'documented and mutual exchanges' between team doctors, stating that the current lack of coordination jeopardizes the players' careers.
This situation highlights the importance of clear communication between clubs and national teams, as it affects not only the well-being of players but also their success on the football field. Future actions from both parties will determine how their cooperation develops, and thus, the health and careers of professionals in the future.
