Quality Street tablets have become smaller again

According to The Sun: The Quality Street tablets have shrunk in size again, leaving fans with about five or six fewer candies compared to last year.

The classic purple packages have been reduced from 600g to 550g, while the number of candies has decreased from approximately 63 to 57.

This year's smaller packages contain 19 servings, totaling approximately 57 candies.

However, the price of candies remains approximately between £5 to £6 in supermarkets. This is yet another blow to Quality Street fans who have witnessed the gradual reduction in package weight — from 1 kg in 2010 to 780g in 2015 and 650g in 2020.

“At this rate, the package will just be empty by 2035,” said co-founder of LatestDeals.co.uk Tom Church.
“The shrinking of Quality Street packaging has become a Christmas tradition. The festive lights are shining, carols are playing, and the candies are shrinking.”

Tom Church also noted that the best way to counter the shrinking sizes is to look for discounts, such as promotional offers in supermarkets.

Last year, Aldi reduced the price of the 600g package to £3.89 in October.

“Consumers are tired of getting less for the same price,” said consumer advocate Martin James.
“They call it what it is: complete deception.”

This year's smaller packages contain 19 servings, totaling approximately 57 candies. However, famous candies such as Fudge, Toffee Penny, and Orange Crunch vary in weight, so there is no precise count of each.

A Nestlé representative stated: “Every year we introduce a new range of Quality Street, based on various factors such as production costs, ingredients, transportation, and customer preferences.”

“We believe our range and pricing for 2025 is competitive, offering a good selection for Quality Street fans.”

The reduction in candy package sizes raises concerns among consumers who hope for a restoration of weight and quantity for fair prices. This issue is becoming increasingly relevant as consumers compare prices and quality amidst market changes and economic conditions. Many are considering offers from other manufacturers to find the best options for the festive season.
