UN Security Council calls emergency meeting over Oreshnik missile strike.
According to ТСН: On Monday, the UN Security Council will hold an urgent meeting at Ukraine's request due to Russia's attack with medium-range missiles 'Oreshnik'.
This information was announced by Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga. The meeting will start at 22:00 Kyiv time.
Violations of International Law
Sibiga noted that the main topic of discussion will be Russia's serious violations of the UN Charter.
'We call on the members of the Security Council to demonstrate unity in their desire to stop aggression, protect civilians, and reaffirm unwavering support for Ukraine's sovereignty,' Sibiga emphasized.
He also stressed that Russian attacks undermine international security and the peace efforts of the United States, European countries, and other partners.
'The international community must act immediately to ensure accountability, increase pressure on the aggressor, and restore lasting peace,' he concluded.
Threats from Russia
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that the Russian army launched an attack with 'Oreshnik' missiles near the borders of the European Union, in the Lviv region.
Additionally, Russia's Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev published a video of the 'Oreshnik' attack on Lviv on his X account and expressed threats regarding war in Europe.
These events highlight the threat Russia poses not only to Ukraine but also to stability in the region.
