Gilmour's New Record at Napoli

According to The Sun: Famous 'Rangers' player Ally McCoist shared a new nickname for Scotland international star Billy Gilmour after the midfielder scored his first goal in his club career at 'Napoli'.

The 24-year-old player from Ayrshire has great potential but had rarely scored for his club until this point. Although he has already scored two goals for the national team, which were scored in a friendly match against France in 2023 and in a Nations League match against Poland.

McCoist couldn't resist joking about Gilmour

Now Gilmour has finally scored for the club, opening the scoring in Napoli's winning match against Pisa with a score of 3:2. This goal helped the team pull ahead of Juventus by two points in the standings.

Gilmour scored easily, taking advantage of a rebound, and his joy was apparent as he ran to the corner flag to celebrate.

New Nickname from McCoist

It has become known that McCoist, who was the head coach of 'Rangers' at the time when Gilmour was just starting, gave him a new nickname – 'PROLIFIC'.

Of course, to reach McCoist's level, Gilmour still needs to score 402 goals.

McCoist passionately commented: “Tremendous. That’s his new nickname, 'prolific'. You might have noticed that after the goal, he was a bit in shock. It’s great. McTominay and Gilmour opened up new possibilities for us.”

He also noted: “One of the first results I check is Napoli due to the interest he generated. They had an incredible season last year; their winning streak was impressive.”

Gilmour's goal was a significant moment for 'Napoli' and will undoubtedly boost the confidence of the player who has long struggled to secure a place in the starting line-up. It also reflects the growing role of the Ukrainian club on the international stage, especially after a successful last season.

The football community will eagerly watch Gilmour’s future performances and whether he can live up to his new nickname and continue his goal-scoring aim for the club in upcoming matches.
