The Boeing 737 was traveling from Thessaloniki to Memmingen when a foreign object apparently struck the engine during takeoff, triggering an unforeseen emergency.
The passenger, Ljubiša Karović, survived thanks to the quick actions of his wife Svetlana Grković and two other people who helped rescue him. The plane was forced to make an emergency landing at Thessaloniki Airport, highlighting the crew's professionalism.

The U.S. National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is now investigating the incident. A preliminary report is expected within the next 28 days. The aircraft is 18 years old, and its engine underwent a full technical overhaul and major maintenance within the last two years. Commenting on the situation, Michael O'Leary noted that “the engine may have been damaged by a foreign object during takeoff.”
