RegioJet Unveils New Electric Trains
According to Novyny.live: Czech private railway operator RegioJet has announced the introduction of new Škoda electric trains for regional services in the Ústí nad Labem Region. The official launch event is set for June 12, 2026, featuring complimentary rides from Ústí nad Labem to Teplice, Litoměřice, and Děčín, giving passengers a first-hand experience of the modern rolling stock.
Train Specifications and Features
A total of 23 new trains are scheduled to enter service in the Ústí Region by the end of the year. The fleet includes both three-car and two-car units. Each three-car train offers 228 seats and space for 14 bicycles, while two-car versions provide 142 seats and accommodate eight bicycles. For added passenger safety, every train will be equipped with a defibrillator.
Local transport authority Doprava Ústeckého kraje (DÚK) highlighted the following amenities in the new trains:
- Low-floor design
- Passenger information systems
- Wi-Fi connectivity
- Electrical outlets and USB-A/USB-C charging ports
- A quiet zone in second class
- Tables, bicycle storage, space for strollers, and accommodations for passengers with reduced mobility
The deployment of RegioJet's new electric trains in the Ústí Region marks a significant step forward for regional transport in Czechia. By expanding the network and integrating modern technologies, such initiatives can enhance service quality and promote rail travel as an eco-friendly and convenient option.
